In recent years, intelligent inspection robots have gradually been used in the operating system of substation systems as a symbol of the development of science and technology in China. Generally speaking, intelligent robots are equipped with high-definition visible light cameras, infrared cameras, acoustic sensors and other equipment. Intelligent inspection robot is a complex integrated system based on mechatronics technology, trackless navigation technology, multi-sensor fusion technology, electromagnetic compatibility technology, behavior planning technology and wireless sensor technology. It mainly includes safety protection unit, chassis drive unit, power supply unit, main control unit and communication unit. It has the advantages of trackless, adjustable, intelligent, cluster, cold resistance, high temperature resistance, long running time and so on. The system calculates and estimates all sensor information, so sensor selection is a key issue. The effective ultrasonic measurement value is generally between 30-400cm, the "blind zone" of ultrasonic ranging is 0-30cm, and the detection range of infrared sensors is generally between 10-80cm. Therefore, infrared sensors can effectively make up for the " Dead zone. " The number of sensors is also a key issue. If the number of sensors is too small, it cannot fully reflect the environmental information of the scene, and the information obtained is easily distorted. If the number of sensors is too large, the complexity and redundancy of the system will be greatly increased, and the execution capability of the system will be weakened.


The hardware of the intelligent inspection robot system is between automated and semi-automated. Realized the automatic induction between the information knob and the patrol device. The maximum effective sensing distance is 5m, but the interactive function has not yet been implemented. Inspection results still need to be recorded by inspection personnel. From the practical application of substations, this inspection instrument is still superior in induction mode, and the short-range (less than 10 cm) induction inspectors and induction inspectors currently used are still valuable. Due to the high cost, a sensor patrol that has both a large-scale automatic sensing function and an interactive function cannot be popularized and applied.


Intelligent inspection robot technology not only has the flexibility and intelligence of manual inspection, but also makes up for some of the shortcomings and deficiencies of manual inspection.
